HOUSTON, Mo. -- Law officers arrested a man last week for the death of his 4-year-old stepdaughter. Camille Denis died six weeks ago.

Officers arrested Daniel Lamborn on New Year’s Day after he was charged the previous day with child abuse resulting in death. The charges resulted from an investigation by the Missouri Department of Social Services and the Texas County Child Welfare Board.

Lamborn was in the Texas County jail on Monday in lieu of a $100,000 bond. If convicted, he could face a life (30-year) prison sentence. He and his family live near Cabool.

Camille Fayte Denis was born on Feb. 27, 2004, in West Plains. She died on Nov. 22 in Houston. According to an online obituary, she attended Cabool Head Start. She had a brother. Her mother is Toni Lamborn.
