(Feb. 4) -- A San Antonio woman is being held on a $2 million bond today on charges that she murdered her two young sons.

Police were summoned Tuesday evening to a house in the 100 block of Weizmann Street. Upon arrival, officers were approached by 22-year-old Elyse Marsyl Colon.

"I asked [her], 'What are we doing here?'" the police incident report stated.

Colon responded, "I just killed my babies," and then she placed her hands behind her back, allowing herself to be handcuffed.

When officers attempted to enter Colon's house, they discovered the door was locked. Upon kicking it in, they found her two children, 1-year-old Guillermo Garcia and 3-year-old Jose Luis Garcia, lying on a bed. Both boys had been stabbed to death.

"Words can't describe the scene," San Antonio police chief William McManus said. "It was unspeakably sad."

McManus said the killings may have occurred up to eight hours before police arrived.

When police placed Colon in the patrol car, she allegedly told them, "Their father is in jail. I want him to know."

According to McManus, the boys' father, Luis A. Garcia-Pacheco, was jailed in September for entering the country illegally. A clergyman notified Garcia-Pacheco about the slayings Wednesday afternoon.

"He's pretty numb and he's kind of devastated," Garcia-Pacheco's attorney, Rudy Vasquez, told statesman.com.

Court records show that Garcia-Pacheco had been arrested twice in 2009 on family violence charges. Colon had allegedly filed for a protective order against him in October. As a result of the incidents, the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services was asked to investigate. A caseworker visited Colon on several occasions, but the agency said it found nothing to indicate the children were in danger.

Authorities have charged Colon with two counts of capital murder. Court records indicate that she is not yet represented by an attorney.

When Colon was being led away from her arraignment Wednesday, she refused to answer questions from reporters and said, "You all need to (expletive) off."

Colon's relatives did not return calls for comment.
