The Gregg County Sheriff's Office and Texas Child Protective Services are investigating a possible case of child abuse after a 15-week-old baby was taken to a hospital with a broken arm and signs of neglect.

The infant boy's parents took him to Longview Regional Medical Center on Monday, according to the sheriff's office.

The baby's injury was discovered during his medical examination.

Sheriff's investigators were called to the hospital to investigate Tuesday afternoon. Investigators interviewed the parents and determined how the baby was hurt, said Lt. Mike Claxton, department spokesman.

Claxton said the department was withholding specific information regarding the injury and its cause until an official complaint has been filed.

The baby has been placed in a temporary foster home, the sheriff's office reported.
