Houston, TX - Jeffery Singer, 44, was scheduled to appear in court in Texas this morning after being released on $50,000 bond.
Authorities say that the body of Singer's 10 year old son - who was blind and suffered from cerebral palsy - was found in a cardboard box in the back of Singer's SUV on Sunday.
According to reports from Texas, Singer drove to his father's house and confessed that he had harmed his son.
The grandfather of 10 year old Jonathan Singer then notified police after hearing his son's confession, according to a report from KHOU in Texas.
Singer was arrested and charged with serious bodily injury to a child and was released from jail Monday on $50,000 bond.
Child Protective Services in Texas revealed that both Singer and his wife, Tina Madrid, had been twice investigated in the past for neglecting the child. According to CPS, the claims were unfounded the first time that the Singers were investigated and during the second investigation, the Singers had moved, which resulted in the neglect case being dropped.
The boy's mother was also arrested following the discovery of the boy's body, but the DA's office released her, citing the need to gather more evidence.
