DALLAS - As police investigate the death of their daughter while in the care of an Oak Cliff day care, the parents said they are broken, frustrated and angry.

Two Tyne day cares have been shut down as authorities search for answers in the death of 19-month-old Kamila Brown.

Yamessie Dorsey and Kevin Brown said they put their trust in Kamila's day care, Tynes Gifted Achievers.

"She was a shining star," Dorsey said.

Kamila was the youngest of the couple's two children.

"When I got up at 5 o' clock, she told me she would miss me," Brown said of the day Kamila died.

That day also happened to be Brown's birthday.

"She walked me to the door and everything, and that was the last time...," he said, not able to end the sentence.

She was picked up in the day care's van from the family's home Monday. Authorities believe the child may have been left in that same van for hours during one of the hottest days so far this year.

Kamila's parents said they were called by the day care around 4 p.m. and were told to go to the hospital.

"When I seen her, she was lying on the table with no life," Dorsey said breaking into tears. "All I could do is get her and hold her. From the time I got there to the time I left, all I did is hold her and tell her how much I love and miss her and please come back to us."

Since days have passed, the anguish has turned to frustration. Her family said they still know nothing. Autopsy results in the death of Kamila were inconclusive Tuesday, police said, but the medical examiner was expected to run more tests.

"What was it that was so important, that was so important, to easily forget that you had a child in the minivan?" Dorsey said.

The couple hopes answers will soon be coming.

"We just want closure," Dorsey said. "That's all we want. That's all we're asking. We think we deserve that."

Dorsey and Brown have started a non-profit organization called Kamila Keep Safe, which will bring awareness to vehicle safety.

Those wishing to donate money to the organization can do so at any Washington Mutual under the organization's name, Kamila Keep Safe.
