ROCKPORT, Texas (AP) — The parents of a South Texas toddler who died after being left inside a hot vehicle last year have each been sentenced to two years in prison in connection with their child's death.

KRIS-TV in Corpus Christi reports (http://bit.ly/mTUltS ) that Kristie Lynn Bills and Cody Wayne Hickey were sentenced on Thursday by a judge in Rockport after pleading guilty last month to reckless bodily injury.

Authorities say the couple left 18-month old Anthony Michael Hickey unattended in the family's sport utility vehicle for about two hours in July 2010 on the northern edge of Aransas Pass, located about 20 miles northeast of Corpus Christi.

Prosecutors had asked that the couple receive the maximum sentence: five years in prison.

The couple's four other children will remain in foster care.
