August 26, 2008 - Kelly and Dan Dwyer, Michigan Memorial Park, left North Carolina this morning to return Kayla Yvonne Allen to the state of her birth. Everything went extremely smooth yesterday. Thank you to Attorney Thomas Lamb for all the effort he put forth to obtain the appropriate permits. We appreciate Detective Robinson sending police officers to make certain everyone was safe and emotions kept in-check. Although we are not able to spare this family's pain, WE can show love and compassion; not in words but through actions. Three months after Seven year-old Kayla was buried, her grandmother, overwhelmed with grief, having promised Kayla that she would protect her, returned to North Carolina and took her own life. With your help, together, we can bring some level of peace to this family by having Kayla buried next to her grandmother in Michigan Memorial Park, with a tombstone appropriate for such an innocent little girl, and with Kayla's legal name, "Kayla Yvonne Allen", properly engraved.

1. To disinter Kayla Yvonne Allen, from the Futrell Family Cemetery.
2. Pay for disinterment in North Carolina
3. Pay for reinternment at Michigan Memorial Park, to be buried next to her grandmother.
4. IF there are funds remaining in Kayla Yvonne Allen's Benevolent Account, at WAMU.com, after all above expenses are paid in full, the remaining funds will be used to help prevent another child's death.

100% of all donations will be listed and deposited into the "Kayla Yvonne Allen" Benevolent Account at Washington Mutual Bank (WAMU). Kayla's Estate Guardian and her attorney are supportive of this Project.

As parents of three daughters, the Dwyers would not give H4K the price of a plot, nor would she give us the prices of a proper headstone; instead, she has put a hold on this plot and Kayla's family will be able to choose the headstone they would like and personalize it for Kayla Yvonne Allen.

Peter's inspiration for delivering this powerful message in keeping with the desire of Kayla's family, not only to see justice served in Kayla's murder but that Kayla's death not be in vain; that from their loss, others may be educated about the vulnerability of Children who depend on State Agents to make GOOD choices.
